Take My Hand

My latest song, Take My Hand, is now available to stream and download on my Music page. With a running time of 6 minutes 48 seconds it is intended as an album track and is the longest piece that I've written so far.

This song tells the story of a man determined to protect his partner from the mild depression and anxiety bouts she is suffering, due to bullying. A male lead sings the main narrative with short interjections from his girlfriend. Musically, it takes on a conventional verse / chorus format with a bridge. There is a driving yet somewhat haunting feel to the song.

A notable feature of the track is the use of a synthesizer from the first note almost to the end of the piece. This is the first time I have included one on a song of mine. I wanted an instrument that gave a solid extended note with no drop-off and first tried a church organ, then strings, but they didn't fit. The synthesizer fades near the end of the song, leaving a strong drum and base section to finish up. Other instruments that have a first outing for me are vibraphone and celeste.

I created the song using Steinberg Cubase Pro, Dorico Pro, Wavelab Pro and Yamaha Vocaloid voice synthesis software. I used two of the three virtual singers that I have created, namely Volcano Lloyd and Tasmin Mellow.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy the song.
