Finding The Words
Writing lyrics for my songs has proven to be one of the most enjoyable aspects of making music. There is something so satisfying about finding phrases buried within my subconscious that help express a specific emotion. Working within the disciplines of rhyme and reason, I find myself concentrating so deeply that I become unaware of my surroundings — something akin to being in a trance. Sometimes I base lyrics on personal events that have shaped me in some way; other times they are purely the workings of my imagination. Once I've finished a lyric, I like to take a walk in the woods to reset my mind.
Most of my work explores the joys and agonies of love and life. I try to keep the overall message of a song mindful and positive; where it can't be because of the theme, I like to offer hope. Some of my lyrics are deeply emotional and, on occasion, can be intimate but I don't write about overtly explicit situations or use strong language.
Below is a CD style booklet that includes the lyrics to my songs. Alternatively, you can read the lyrics as the music is playing. Go to my Music page and activate the Note and Script symbol on the music player. Thank you.
